This 104-hectare park features a mix of woodland, grassland, and wetland habitats, with a large lake and several smaller ponds. It has a variety of walking trails, including the 6.5-kilometer circular Hornchurch Trail, and is home to a range of wildlife, including birds, bats, and insects. The park also has a visitor center, picnic areas, and a children's play area.
Very massive and usually never busy, there's a massive lake, which you can feed ducks with great area to bike, The playground is very suitable for children and the dog friendliness is amazing. There's also nice grass to have amazing picnic areas. The restrooms are very clean. The wildlife I've seen are birds and its very peaceful to experience. The visitor center is also amazing as it is an indoor area with a built in cafe where you can relax and even buy food/drinks. The park is also a very educational place to go to learn about war, even containing REAL items that were used. Overall, it's a very historic and excellent place to go to.
I visited here in October 2022 as part of walking the London Loop route around London. This was a great country park on a former RAF base with lots of reminders from it past life to discover.
Lovely visitors centre, shop, cafe & toilets. Very clean, covid safe and welcoming. Tarmac path suitable for mud free walking, buggies, wheelchairs & cyclists. Good signage, includes information on how to avoid the hill. Lots of benches, picnic tables and litter bins. Then there's the nature! Lots of side paths to go off piste and explore a huge area. The playground is interesting with traditional and adventurous equipment. Look out for pieces of history - remnants from the war, plus a lovely memorial to RAF Hornchurch.
Very beautiful park despite the busy surroundings, it is a great place for a long walk as it is so vast and open. There are multiple free of charge car parks available here, these are all quite clear on Google maps. There is a large lake within the park.
Always a different adventure to take lots of routes. In the main park by the duck pond there's a lovely dog friendly cafe with friendly staff. Yummy food for great value and toilets Theres 2 playgrounds. One each end of the fields as well as football pitches.
