Such a terrific family day out at the House of Frankenstein. We did an hour of an escape room followed by looking around the house and it was really good value for all that. The escape room was just about perfect in difficulty for our family (2 adults and 2 kids aged 12 and 13) and we escaped in the nick of time! The house is fascinating for adults and children. Lots to read about Mary's interesting and tragic life but also fun things in the pop culture section. My 2 kids loved the (free play) pinball machine and the life size creature replica. Definitely well worth a visit even without the escape room but best value is to do it as a combo.

Spotted this during the Bath bus tour and thought we would give it a blast. I was very pleasantly surprised as to how big it was. Over what seemed like 100 levels the tour went on for ages. Jam packed with lots of informative displays of Mary Shelly's life. I never knew that much about her but what an unfortunate horrible upbringing she had and not much luck in life either. It has inspired us to go watch the movie based on her life. We didn't do the escape room but thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the museum. Her book Frankenstein is only a small part of her journey through life. I was intrigued on how she imagined the story and what influenced it. The immersive dungeon experience was a welcome finish....!! Reasonably priced it's well worth a trip if you have an hour or so to spare whilst in Bath. Highly recommend.

We had an enjoyable experience here. Definitely a fun trip! It wasn't as "interactive" as I was hoping for and a little rundown / old / dusty, but we had fun. It was quite expensive for the entry, but made a change from the normal museums. I'm not sure it was worth it, but was a nice change of pace.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You start with a self-guided tour through the life of Mary Shelley with special effects and a movie screening. Very creepy basement! You can also do the escape room if you feel up to it. Highly recommended!

One of the best attractions in Bath! Excellent value for money. The house is beautifully decorated with all manner of artefacts, plus audio and visual content: it tells the story of how Mary Shelley was inspired to write Frankenstein, her life, and how the novel and especially the creature, has taken on a life of its own! There is a scary basement (what's in there??) and in the Laboratory - a full size model of the creature... IT'S ALIVE!! If you enjoy escape rooms, they also offer a range of these. Plus there's a gift shop with all manner of Frankenstein inspired goodies. I urge you to go!

Pleased with this tour. Excellent to see Mary Shelley recognized for her contribution to literature. The design is appropriately gothic and lots of details about her life and the origin of Frankenstein. It has a section devoted to Frankenstein's evolution into pop culture. We also loved the pinball machine. When we were there, they were screening the 15 minute original silent movie. Go to the basement if you dare! There is also an escape room, which we did not try on this trip. Bonus: next door to the Jane Austen Centre.
