For those with any interest in history whatsoever Stamford Bridge is a must. Not much to see, but that's not the point is it. Most of the battleground has been built on in the intervening 950 years, but you can still get an impression of what happened tactically. It is worth walking through the village to the viewing area at the end of Whiterose Drive, not for the view necessarily although it is broad, but you get an impression of the high ground occupied by Hardrada's army.

Lovely to mark not quite the spot of the battle but the place that overlooks it. You can't see the battlefield itself as there is a thick hedge in the way.

It's interesting to see we're a pivotal point in English history happened.just a small monument pointing to the local and national history of the island

Very disappointed that one of the most important battles of English history has just this stone monument and patch of grass that locals use to walk the dog to commemorate it with. Thought there might be something along the lines of what's at Bosworth.

Don't get your hopes up, there is not much here. BUT if you appreciate your British history it's a really nice visit as this battle was significant in many ways.
