Great castle set up high above the river. Good information and lovely garden is worth a look too parking in Richmond in general tricky with town centre parking 2 hours maximum. Museum above shop very interesting with information about the conscientious objectors held in the castle during ww1.

A beautiful castle remains overlooking the scenic town of Richmond. Entry fee is reasonable, and cheaper online in advance. Gorgeous views from all angles which get better the further up the main tower you go. Plenty to explore and do within the castle grounds.

What an amazing visit to Richmond Castle, dating back to William the Conqueror through the Civil War, First World War, WW11 up to the late 40s. So much to see and read, there's a fantastic historical walk through exhibition that explains the history and power that the Dukes of Richmond had. Not to be missed if you visit Richmond.

A lovely town set a top of a hill with a beautifully kept castle ruin with a tower that gives you stunning 360deg views of the area. Large open space to wander around the castle grounds with information to read to get a good insight into what once was. Well worth paying the entrance fee to get a proper look at it all. Very reasonably priced and best to visit on a quiet week day.

A great stronghold of the North, Richmond Castle is definitely well worth a visit - if you're in the area why not also visit Easby Abbey, also English Heritage, and only just down the road. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. There's a little museum on the site which explains the history and there are some games out on the lawn for kids. Plenty of picnic tables too if you want to bring your lunch and there's plenty of space for kids to run around. It's quite a walk to the top of the tower with several steps but well worth it. Most of the site is in ruin but the main tower is intact. Great views across the area. Robert Baden-Powell was stationed here if you're a Scout or Guide and on the day I visited there was a friendly cat strategically placed in the garden awaiting your attention. A lovely visit!
