Found within the city of Gloucester is an internationally important collection of treasures of over 750,000 objects... The Museum of Gloucester is the most unique cultural and family destination in the city, telling the story of the city's origins as a Roman settlement and its subsequent development through the Dark Ages and Medieval period and beyond. We also have many changing exhibitions throughout the year and a varied programme of events, workshops, tours, clubs and talks. A selection of educational sessions, outreach and loan boxes are available plus an exciting gift shop full of both historical and local products (and not forgetting our cafe!) We are proud to offer FREE admission to our Museum and encourage entry by donation.

Folk of Gloucester

The Folk of Gloucester is one of Gloucester's great historic timber-framed gems. A complex of three properties, Nos. 99 & 101 were originally constructed as a merchant's house in the 16th century and were joined in the 17th century by No. 103, originally a townhouse. At the rear, to the side of a courtyard garden, a 16th-century barn was remodelled in the 18th century for use as a pin factory, an industry in which Gloucester once led the nation, if not the world. Following the decline of British pin manufacture, the premises were bought by the Council in 1933 and converted to a museum. The Folk is now in the hands of Gloucester Civic Trust and is being turned in to a cultural venue with a mix of Exhibits, Events and a community space.

This is a small shop with a free museum inside. It is located upstairs and it's quite small but adorable. So many things about Peter Rabbit and other books of Beatrix Potter. Also the people who work there are friendly and very nice.

Such a lovely place dedicated to Beatrix Potter, the author of The Tales of Peter Rabbit books. Located in a narrow street, this hidden jem is full of history. Small shop full of Peter Rabbit items, with cute little details such as knitted mise hidden under tea cups. There is also a TV where kids can sit and watch the animation. On the second floor there is a little museum. The lady at the shop was very friendly.

Popped in onto the way to the cathedral. A very welcoming and cosy shop and the staff were very friendly. Bought a small selection of knitted toys (hedgehogs and mice) and these were very well priced.

Beautiful lovely shop with small museum on the second floor. The shop keeper was lovely and explained us the story of Beatrix potter and one of the stories that was based in gloucester and this shop! It was quite busy but worth to come in :)

A lovely little museum showing Beatrix Potter items. Absolutely full of history, worth a visit if you get the chance to see.
