I booked the Rock Pool Project for my daughters 6th birthday party with her friends at Mount Batten beach in Plymouth. We had three knowledgeable guides who were great with the kids showing them all kinds of interesting marine life that we never would have found on our own. Rock pool bingo was a great way to get the kids engaged and we all had a fun day. I was also sent a report of the rock pool adventure including photos to share with the kids. I highly recommend it for a kids party and you can enjoy a picnic on the beach after. Only thing to note is this is for able bodied individuals as climbing over the rocks is a little challenging and make sure to wear adequate footwear.

Learn to rockpool properly and you'll be hooked. No nets or special equipment needed, you won't believe what is on our shores if you know when, where and how to look. All while learning to keep yourself and those creatures safe and happy. If you're not particularly "sure footed" or can't physically get down to the rocks, they also do the occasional "mobile rock pool" where a team will go out and find interesting species to bring back to a large mobile rockpool, which have been taken to groups for the blind, elderly, schools and general events around Plymouth. Wonderful group!

Alan from The Rock Pool Project was excellent at engaging our children (ages 7 and 12), as well as the adults. We felt we learned so much. Alan showed us how to explore rock-pools safely, being sensitive to the animals and plants. There was no shortage of different species to see and learn about and Alan had a lot of interesting knowledge to share. With Alan's knowledge we gained a much more detailed understanding and empathy for an area we thought we knew, as a result, seeing it afresh. We highly recommend this activity.

We were lucky enough to be gifted a family ticket by friends, to enjoy a rock pool adventure with The Rock Pool Project. We all had a great time with Zak from The Rock Pool Project at Mount Batten beach on Sunday. He is very knowledgeable about the creatures we found as well as where to find them and the local area/environment. We all felt like we learned a lot and had fun, despite the rain! Really appreciate Zak's time and all his help finding lots of wonderful creatures to educate us about them, can't wait to return!

This was an interesting and quite magical experience! The instructors were so knowledgeable and we learnt lots of really interesting facts and saw so much! We also took my children, 5 and 2 years old, and, considering the very late night, they loved it and were so engaged with it all! They even got to hold a starfish!!

We absolutely loved our experience with the rock pool project. Our guide Alan was extremely informative and the morning was really fun. They take safety very seriously which was excellent. Taking part in citizen science is great fun for families but as adults we found it to be a real learning experience which I would highly recommend to anyone with an interest in wildlife. Overall it was just a fantastic morning, and one of the highlights of our holiday in Plymouth. If we're ever back in the area, we will certainly be rockpooling again!
