About
The Anchor Church Caves are a series of limestone caves located in Chislehurst, Kent, England. The caves are a popular tourist attraction and feature a series of underground passages, chambers, and tunnels that stretch for over a mile. The caves have been formed over millions of years through the erosion of the limestone rock by acidic rainwater. Visitors can take a guided tour of the caves, which reveals ancient fossils, stalactites, and stalagmites, as well as evidence of early human habitation. The caves also feature a number of impressive formations, including the "Chapel of St. Eadburgha" and the "Cathedral Cave". The temperature in the caves remains a constant 10°C (50°F) throughout the year, making them a popular destination for visitors seeking to escape the heat of the summer or the cold of the winter.

Nice place for a little visit, parked on a grass verge near a sign for a footpath and was only a short walk away. Just past the caves in the wooded area was a rope swing which the kids liked. Only thing that let it down was the mess left behind by what looked like someone staying there, and dog mess not picked up
It is very difficult to find as there is no sign posting. It's a lovely walk once found. I would definitely suggest wellies if wet(or good boots). It's a pity it isn't protected better; the history is incredible, but unfortunately, it's not the treasure it should be! However, there is a beautiful church very nearby, which is definitely worth seeing.
Fairly easy walk to get to this historical site. Some steep parts that would be difficult in wetter weather. It's nice to see this site but it was a bit messy with signs that some people have been misusing the area. Some great walks around the site though. Parking can be tricky - there are lay-bys near the site which can be used. Best to arrive early!
Stunning historical site, fascinating, carved into the rocks, well worth the hike to get there. Riverside path best to get to it, footwear important as can get very muddy! Beautiful!
Lovely walk along river to reach the church. Amazing site. Well worth the walk.
We enjoyed the walk and the caves were interesting. Nice bit of history if you look into it.
