We had a lovely day out with the family. There was a good selection of animals, all with information about them. In places the zoo was a little bit tired but the animals were well looked after, the staff were brilliant and gave lots of information about the animals when asked/ at the talks, there were huge amounts of toilets everywhere, the coffee and drinks places were plentiful and well priced. We had a great day out and would definitely recommend it to others as a smaller but definitely less busy day than visiting their sister zoo - Africa Alive
Banham Zoo, while clean and well-organized, left much to be desired during our visit. Despite the neat layout and the care taken to maintain the grounds, the overall experience was disappointing due to a few key issues. First, the variety of animals was limited, which made the visit feel somewhat lackluster compared to other zoos. The lack of staff engagement was also noticeable, with very little interaction or effort to engage with visitors about the animals. This absence of connection was particularly evident in the fact that there were no shows or demonstrations to highlight the animals and their behaviors, which is something many families look forward to when visiting a zoo. There was one talk about the howler monkeys, but it was conducted in the main walkway, which felt awkward and poorly planned. The presentation lacked the focus and environment needed to really appreciate and learn about these fascinating animals. It's clear that the zoo's planning and execution in this regard could use significant improvement. One of the more enjoyable aspects was a fun ride through the park, where the guide was knowledgeable about the animals. Unfortunately, even this experience was dampened by the fact that we didn't actually see many animals during the ride, leaving us feeling a bit underwhelmed. Nina and Lettie did manage to enjoy their time at the zoo, but overall, the experience didn't live up to expectations. The pricing was another downside, with entry fees and merchandise in the gift shop being on the expensive side. For example, small stuffed toys were priced at PS11.00 and up, which seemed excessive given the overall experience. In summary, while Banham Zoo has some positives, like its cleanliness and knowledgeable staff on the ride, the limited animal variety, lack of engaging shows, and awkward presentation left us feeling disappointed. It's one of the least impressive zoos we've visited, and we wouldn't plan a return visit.
Excellent visit. So much to see. Almost all the animals were easy to spot and in good sized enclosures. The Red Pandas and the Spider monkeys were our favourites. Reasonably priced with good parking and food options. We will certainly be back again.
Lovely place and clean looked after enclosures, polite helpful staff. I can't help but think there were a few too many closed enclosures and some exhibits that were on the map but could not be found. A bit pricey but worth a visit...!
It was an amazing experience with the kids at Banham zoo. It was a well maintained zoo, quite a variety of animals also a big children play area. Overall a clean zoo with clean toilets and facilities also cafes. Animals looked well fed. I read some negative reviews actually it is not so, pretty good experience. Kids especially enjoyed the 10-min safari-like train rides, kangaroo, tigers (3), leopard, seals, the tropical house and many more. A few enclosures were empty. We got discounted online tickets so we felt it is worth it, however I think it still has room for improvement in terms of animal variety to match those bigger zoos in other regions of the country, also the souvenir variety (IMO a bit too expensive). In a nutshell a great experience worth visiting with kids!
Banham Zoo is a well run zoo, with lovely animals to see, photograph and learn about. The access is perfect for prams and wheelchairs. There is a little train tour for fun. From big cats, and giraffes to meerkats and monkeys, there is a special animal for everyone. We spent around PS100 as we had lunch and bought souvenirs however an annual pass and home made picnic lunch will make your PS go further.
