About

A tranquil ancient woodland nestled in the heart of Suffolk, Bradfield Woods National Nature Reserve boasts a rich tapestry of flora and fauna. The reserve's 40 hectares are dominated by majestic oak, ash, and field maple trees, their gnarled branches stretching towards the sky like nature's own cathedral. The woodland floor is carpeted with a vibrant display of wildflowers, including bluebells, wood anemones, and violets, which bloom in a kaleidoscope of colors during the spring and summer months. The air is filled with the sweet songs of birds, including the melodic wood warbler and the chirping tree pipit, while the rustle of leaves and snapping of twigs underfoot signal the presence of small mammals, such as rabbits and deer. A network of winding trails invites exploration, leading visitors through a labyrinth of glades and clearings, each one revealing a new perspective on this enchanting woodland world.

Lovely place to go for a walk. Paths are flat, wide and well marked. There are different distances to walk and you can get a brochure with a map at a little wooden hut at the entrance. Plenty of parking. Also toilets available if the hut is open.

A small woods, with an even smaller sign to the car park. Blink and you'll miss it, so go slowly where the sat nav tells you it is. Use postcode IP30 0AQ. This took me 100 yards down the road from the entrance. Parking is free. Toilets available but they're very basic and were locked when we arrived. This is a non commercial woods, with not alot here, just woods. No fancy cafe. Several walks available with colour coded sign posts, and they're easy and clear to follow. One was 2.5 miles long. It's VERY muddy. Even in June there were still muddy patches. I would definitely recommend walking boots, old shoes, and in the winter wellies for sure. A great place for a quiet walk. Dogs allowed and off lead in some parts. Alot of the pathways unsuitable for buggies.

Lovely walk with 4 route options depending on how far you want to go. Dog friendly with a few benches along the way. Numerous public footpaths that you can leave the wood to follow if you want to go further.

Plenty of pathways to walk and enjoy. Just beautiful. Would highly recommend to others to visit. Great for children seems to be a lot going on there. Great or dogs.

1k to 4k length walks available and clearly sign posted, well maintained paths and lots of wildlife. The woods looks much nicer in the summer but doesn't everything. Free parking and toilets on site, parking looks to be 24 hours with the toilets only being accessable when the visitor centre is open. Dogs are welcome on the lead and would advise to keep them on due to deep burrows that your dog could go down. Overall worth the trip and close to Bury/Stowmarket for lunch afterwards. Will be back in the summer.

Autumn brought the dyes here, then sprinkled those gradient colors from green to red on the trees. We arrived around 10 am. The parking lot is not big and a handful of cars have already been there. There are a total of 8km of trails inside the wood and 3 colored circular routes with different lengths according to the information from the website. To experience a different view, we also walked about a 2km public footpath. The sunlight in the woods is amazingly beautiful. Although we heard the sound of woodpeckers pecking wood, we did not find this lovely creature.
