About
In 2014, the Mee family kindly donated Dartmoor Zoological Park to 'Dartmoor Zoological Society', a charity specially created for the purpose and registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under registration number 1158422. The charity is responsible for the care of the animal collection as well as our conservation, breeding and research projects. The charity is completely reliant on ticket income, donations and purchases to keep the vital work going. Therefore, whilst we are still the beloved home of the 'We Bought a Zoo' story, a new story led by the charity is developing.

Little hidden gem! Small but very nice Zoo. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed animal talks. All time spent there felt that all staff and animals were like family. Impressed how much for each member means this Zoo and animals. If you are nearby, visit it and you will have a day well spent. If we ever again will be in area we will return to this Zoo. On our return home we watched a movie 'We bought a Zoo'. What this movie has shown very well is the spirit of this special Zoo.
Small zoo but plenty to see. Could get very close to most animals despite good size enclosures. Tiger was one of the highlights, and the baby lynx were adorable. Good informative talks during the day. Reptile and bug house could be bigger, not much to see there. Toyshop is plushee heaven so be ready to 'manage' the kids
A pleasant zoo on the smaller side, but still with a good variety of animals including big cats. We visited on a drizzly day in August and it was fairly quiet. Car park and ticket booth down the bottom of the site, then a fairly steep walk up to the restaurant and facilities, and a further walk uphill to reach the rest of the zoo. Clean and tidy, and friendly staff.
Dartmoor Zoo was a great day out, they have the 3 big cat. Staff were very friendly, happy to answer questions. The cafe was reasonably priced, tea was PS2.25! Lot's of choice. Play areas for children and a few talks and watched feeding time's. Tickets were a couple of pound cheaper on line.
First time visiting Dartmoor Zoo, lovely zoo with upclose animals, variety of big cats, nice cafe, delicious ice cream and interesting kids play area. You will need comfy shoes though as it's rather steep and uneven in some places, lots of parking spaces, lots of space for kids to run around
Went as a family to this Zoo. What a great place!! One of the best places to see animals, up close & personal. All the staff around were friendly & helpful. And the food in the restaurant was lovely too. It's the closest you'll get to big cats
