What a tranquil place to visit. Once you have negotiated the cyclists wizzing around you can relax and look at the church and the reservoir with it's wild life and the ferry. We couldn't get into the building on both days we went as a wedding was occurring , and after the wedding the building was locked up , however the windows allow you s good view of the internals , which I thought was a little disappointing as it's was nothing special as far as I could see. However the architecture is fantastic. It was a shame to see the graffiti on the end wall . I'd definitely go back as the walk and places to eat and drink are good. The hut near the church was a god send for ice-cream and drinks but be aware you can only pay electronically.... No cash ..

Normanton Church is a must-visit if you're in the Rutland area. This iconic church, partially submerged by the creation of Rutland Water in the 1970s, offers a unique blend of history and picturesque scenery. The church was originally part of the old Normanton Estate but was saved from flooding when the reservoir was created. Today, it stands on a small peninsula, offering incredible photo opportunities, especially at sunrise or sunset. The architecture is stunning, and the peaceful surroundings make it a perfect spot for reflection. It's also a popular wedding venue, and it's easy to see why--imagine saying your vows with panoramic views of the water as your backdrop! Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or just looking for a tranquil spot to unwind, Normanton Church is well worth the visit.

A really beautiful place. Great for walks, cycling, picnics or just chilling out. Can be hired for weddings. Boat ride from there as well. Car park chargeable anpr. 5hrs PS8. Rutland reservoir has much to explore and is very popular with cyclists and a cycle trail is a must. Specialized store for hire and repair as well

A small older church used to small events nowadays. A beautiful little spot near the water with benches around. In a quiet sunny day it's a very relaxing and calm place. About half miles from carpark and cafe, lovely spot.

When the Rutland Water reservoir was created in 1970 the church was commissioned for demolition. Happily, due to the public outcry it was decided that the lower level of the church will be filled with rubble and topped with concrete and the ground around raised. The church is partially buried in the ground. Sometimes it looks as if it was submerged. It is an intriguing landscape. Unfortunately, at the weekends the church is unavailable due to the wedding ceremonies taking place there.

This is an iconic church in a beautiful setting & with such an interesting recent history on how it was saved from being flooded by the reservoir . Lovely walk from the church up to the Epingham dam
