This is a lovely castle you can see where the inner buildings once stood and can climb stairs up to look in a few of the surviving rooms of the outer towers. You can walk up to the central part of the castle where the view is brilliant over Pickering and the surrounding countryside. Good gift shop. I would recommend taking a picnic there on a sunny day.

Visited the castle for a couple of hours and was able to see everything. Being members of the English heritage this was free with our membership. Possible to walk into Pickering to visit the town where there are shops, cafe etc. Overall ok if you like history and have a couple of hours.

Very small car park but street parking very near. Lovely staff. Little shop. No cafe but a coffee machine. Really appreciate the reconstruction pictures . Dressing up clothes for younger ones in the church. Great views over Pickering from the top and, at the opposite side, of the station and the steam trains! A very pleasant, interesting visit.

Great little castle. Would be a perfect place to take a picnic and spend the day if you have children. Staff on site are very knowledgeable about the castle and the surrounding area. This also includes the English Heritage sites at York and Scarborough.

The castle spans a large area and is a ruin so not much shelter if it looks like rain. However, there are great views on a nice day, lots of open grassed area for kids to run around. Also a few picnic tables scattered about. The staff are friendly and accommodating and have good knowledge about the castles history. Not good for people who struggle with mobility and the car park is a bit rough and small. It's also dog friendly.

Excellent afternoon enjoying the Castle. Blaze enjoyed his time walking around taking in the views. Brilliant last day of his holidays.
