Beautiful place, very knowledgeable and welcoming volunteers, and a fascinating story, which they are happy to tell. I was only able to look round as a tourist, as there were no services in the time I was able to spend there, but I very much enjoyed it. It seems a real community church: when I was there, coffee was being served in one corner, presumably to members of the congregation from Eucharist, which would just have finished; and there was an art exhibition along one aisle. Hopefully I'll be able to come back.
The Cathedral was closed to the public on a Saturday afternoon in June because of a private hire. I could still freely visit the Cathedral Treasury: a room in the basement where silverware and a few old books are kept. There are also a cafe/restaurant and a souvenir shop, plus lush gardens.
Beautiful cathedral, stained glass windows are in good condition so you can see lots of details. Service was happening but they kindly allowed us to visit
I was so impressed with this cathedral. It is stunning, albeit the organ loft is far too high up! A wonderful building in the centre of a beautiful market town. My photos don't do this one justice.
Loved it. Donated my PS10 for up keep. Lovely place and town. Sure others know far more info than me. Please read and like others.
Visited the Bury St Edmunds Cathedral, it is well maintained and beautiful. When we visited, there was a choir going on, so it added to the scene. Minor issue: the Cathedral seems to lack restrooms to use for public, or at least signs indicating it's direction. So, when my kid had urge to go, even when we wanted to stay a bit longer, we had to step out to use rest room in Abbey Gardens, which is next to it.
