Nice day out today (28/07/24) Last minute decision to go. Got there and there was no queue. Spent a good hour in the butterfly house. Walk round at your own leisure, no pressure take photos etc. I've done 4 stars because the Maze and mini are both extra cost. An all in one ticket would be better, plus parking is extra but only PS3 for 4 hours so not too bad really. Would definitely visit again. Kids will love it
Lots of beautiful species of butterfly here. As expected, it was hard to take photos as they wouldn't stay still for long, but it was still very enjoyable. There is only one room, but you can easily spend 30-60 minutes in there. There is a maze next door and canoe hire nearby, so you can spend a day in the area. You don't need to book, but you can.
Lovely little butterfly zoo. Pretty good price, especially if you pay for the maze as well! Depending on how much time you take enjoying the butterflies you can spend an hour in here or ten minutes. I personally spent about an hour (I was trying to catch a photo of the beautiful blue butterflies that didn't want to sit still!) Naturally it's very warm inside the maze so make sure any layers you have on are removable or you'll be gasping for air! Only downside is it's a bit cheeky having to pay for parking ontop but still worth it.
Very sweet place, especially for little ones. We're in the area for a week on holiday, decided to pop in and look. Easily accessible parking, paid via PayByPhone App. There were a few reviews with fines etc, but we just paid normally and read the sign, all should be ok. Toilets on site too. The butterfly zoo itself is very humid and warm so be careful when inside. Cute video beforehand updating you on the butterfly zoo with a magnifying glass and leaflet of different breeds. The enclosure isn't huge, but definitely a good spectacle. Pretty awesome. Would recommend to families and photographers alike.
We went first thing Saturday morning, so it would be quiet. It's very humid in here as you'd expect with all the exotic flora and butterflies. Fortunately, you get to go in and out all day if you buy the right ticket. The butterfly farm is not a very big attraction, you can walk around in about 10 minutes, but as the butterflies are constantly on the move, each time you walk around, there is always something new to see. We were lucky to have a butterfly or two land on us, much to the delight of my elderly friend. They have a lovely gift shop and very knowledgeable staff. Parking is a reasonable PS3 for 4 hours, but disabled parking is not free. Do look up for those pay and display signs because they are high up in the air, not at eye level!! There is a maze, mini golf, outdoor garden, and tea room, as well as an ice cream bar. So, there is plenty of choice for lunch or a cup of tea and a slice of cake, or even a cheeky ice cream. A great morning or afternoon out, but you'd be hard pushed to make it a whole day out of the butterfly farm unless you go for a wonderful river walk. UPDATE: 27/04/24 Today I received a parking charge of PS100 even though I did buy a ticket! I was lucky I kept my parking ticket as a keep sake, or I would not have been able to prove I had paid. Keep your tickets, folks. It could happen to you...
