This museum showcases the history and culture of the Aber Valley in South Wales, featuring exhibits on the region's industrial heritage, including coal mining, ironworking, and transportation. The museum is housed in a restored 19th-century chapel and offers interactive displays, artifacts, and photographs that tell the story of the valley's people and their way of life. Visitors can explore recreated period settings, including a Victorian street, a 1940s-style kitchen, and a coal miner's cottage. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions and events throughout the year.
Small but amazing museum. Artefacts collected over many years talking the history of 2 horrendous mining disaster to hit 1 valley just over 10 years apart, with the later being the worst in the UK killing 440 men and boys.. Run by volunteers who are passionate about their history. Worth a visit but phone to check opening times etc. Photos not allowed!
