Following the latest government advice, all English Heritage staffed historic sites are closed from 18 March until 1 May. All public events during this period are also cancelled. This is under regular review, so please check the English Heritage website for the latest information.
We visited as part of our English Heritage membership meaning entry was free. A pleasant museum to walk around and learn some of the history of the local area. Would highly recommend to visit.
Great little museum, good information on the area, Free for national trust members, otherwise you must pay, they even let the dog come in which was great.
A lovely little museum that depicts the history of the stone circle and the house. It's well laid out, and the content is easy to read.
Opening hours are inaccurate. The staff member closing the place down as we arrived (following a two hour journey to get here) unhelpfully told us to check the National Trust website, and that they'd given up on trying to change Google. There seems to be an outdated lack of understanding of the fact that most people plan their journeys and opening hours via Google Maps. Anyway, since this review was otherwise quite negative, here's a pretty smoke ring emerging from a volcano.
A good museum focusing on the history of Avebury. Well worth a visit if you at coming to the stone circle.
This is a nice 30 or 40 minute side trip while visiting the Avebury Circle. They have some nice exhibits on how people may have lived when the circle was built. My recommendation is to visit the museum first before walking the circle as it puts it into context and makes it feel that much more worthwhile.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Wheelchair-accessible toilet
