This reserve is a haven for wildlife, with its mix of woodland, grassland, and wetland habitats supporting a diverse range of species. The reserve's woodland is dominated by ancient birch and oak trees, while the grasslands are home to a variety of wildflowers, including orchids and gentians. The wetlands, which include ponds and streams, attract a range of waterbirds, including otters, kingfishers, and herons. The reserve's varied landscape also supports a range of mammals, including roe deer, badgers, and foxes. Visitors can explore the reserve's many trails, including the popular Abernethy Trail, which takes in some of the reserve's most scenic spots.
Returned to Abernethy Trust with friends we met there 50 years ago, to celebrate our friendship as we met there in 1974. Warm welcome from Mark & Sam, staff members, who were keen to hear our story. So pleased to hear that the Centre is thriving all these years on.
The view and scenery was amazing and the cycle path was an adventurous and quite difficult to ride especially the rocky paths which I had to walk up, but I'd definitely do this ride again for sure.
One of the most gorgeous forests I have been too. Takes some serious walking to get there but well worth it
Beautiful place to visit and plenty of lovely walks.
Beautiful walk around surrounding area. The paths are well laid out and easily accessible.
