A 19th-century country house in Lancashire, England, featuring stunning Victorian architecture, beautifully landscaped gardens, and a rich history dating back to the 13th century.
This place is within the Astley Hall and one of the oldest standing. I love the black and white theme. It was drowned in flood water a few months ago but they've managed to clear. Its a good spot for photography.
I didn't really go there google, I only parked nearby. But I wouldn't want to live there. I always used to say I would cos it's near tesco and handy for the park but honestly last year when chorley flooded you wouldn't be safe on the roof, jesus, you'd need a canoe to get to your bedroom. Just google it, it proper flooded
Ackhurst Lodge is grade II listed and was built around 1842 as the lodge to Astley Hall. It is a box-frame construction on plinth of large stone blocks. It is currently not open to the public.
Lovely walk through the grounds. Great kids play area. Shame about the flood damage to the lodge, hope it gets restored. Small local parking.
I just ran past the place. Looks interesting but boarded up. Might be worth looking into, to see if it has any opening times. Otherwise, just check it out from the outside.
Saw pictures of the house up to the gutters a few weeks ago. Wow. Beautiful house, but so much damage must have been done.
