Experience a working "farm through time" in stunning rural Shropshire, as seen on the BBC's 'Victorian Farm' series. A charity, Acton Scott Heritage Farm (Charity number: 1206770) has recently taken on management of the farm. If you would like to support our work, you can find more information about donations and volunteering on our website. For Summer 2024 we are offering a limited number of tours, dates of which are available on our website. We also hope to offer a small number of Autumn/Winter events later in 2024 - please check our website or social media for more details. We hope to open fully, to self-guided visits from Easter 2025.
First time coming to the farm and we have had a fantastic day out. Cheap and affordable plenty of animals to see? Every staff member was super polite to us. The blacksmith man was amazing and super kind to our little boy and he is very happy with his horse shoe! Really enjoyed feeding the lambs and holding the baby chicks We will defo be returning. Great day out thankyou defo reccomend a day out here.
Absolutely great day out. Do not miss it. We arrived at 11am and left at 4pm. Lots to see. Guides are there to tell you more and for you to ask questions. The animals are out working at different times, for example the Shire horses work in the morning and they get to go in and rest for a few hours. The forge was working all day. Tom was a super guy. He told us all about being a farrier and horse shoes are like human shoes, specific to each foot, who knew! The animals are brilliant and well cared for. Piglets were born last week and we were able to get quite close. Goats were my favourite. You will want walking shoes or boots. Wellies for kids. Take a picnic but although the school house cafe was closed, an improvised barbecue was available in the covered picnic area. Allergies are catered for. My husband uses a wheelchair so we hired their Tramper for the day. Book in advance for this. No charge just a donation.
A full day of fantastic farm fun! Loved the baby pigs, lambs and calves. Learned about so many things from quilting to milking. The best was the free guided tour that was super informational. Great place to visit with or without kids...truly something for everyone.
> Please like helpful reviews < Amazing day out with the family. Really nice atmosphere and lots going on to immerse you in days gone by and hands on helping with the animals. Thoroughly recommended.
My favourite place to visit ! Been 4 years in a row. Staff go out of there way to make each visit a magical experience. Very hands on. There's lots to do including chick holding, lamb feeding, tours and demonstrations. No visit is the same, there's always something new going on. The cafe and staff are amazing. Would highly recommend to any ages.
We obviously heard about this place because of the TV series, so though we'd check it out. To be fair we didn't have high expectations and those expectations were spot on. There's not a great deal to see or do really. Not sure if we just went on a quiet day (mid week in early may), so we didn't stay for that long. You can spend 2 or 3 hrs here, if you stop for some lunch in the old schoolhouse (which does some nice food, but is a little pricey... Tourist pricing rather than comparable to the area). The staff are friendly and knowledgeable (sorry, you won't see any TV stars working there).. and if you're lucky they may be feeding the lambs or ducklings/chics. We got to feed a lamb and hold some of the chics and ducklings, and in one of the cottages they had a couple in Victorian clothing making some kind of pancakes that farm workers often took with them.. they were generous with the samples too.
