Located in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria, England, Aira Force is a breathtaking waterfall that drops 65 feet (20 meters) into the Aira Beck gorge. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and is accessible via a scenic walking trail from the nearby village of Aira Force. The roar of the waterfall can be heard from a distance, and visitors can get up close to the falls by walking behind them, providing a unique and exhilarating experience.
Very nice location, if a little busy. The car par was extremely busy, so it took a while to secure a space. Once parked we had a great time. The footpaths and bridges are really well managed and accessible for most people. The falls are quite impressive, especially after heavy rain, like we had.
Great views. The shortest route would be from the Aira Force National Trust Car Park (PS5 in 2024 for non members). However we parked opposite the High Cascades Car Park and spent close to 2 hours, walking across the bridge at High Cascades then right and down to the bridge below Aira Force before climbing up the steps and back up the West side towards High Cascades again. If you stick to the West side it's probably a better path and an easier walk.
Breathtaking view, wonderful experience. Loved the walk and how you can follow a trail on one side and come back on yourself the other side. Well worth the visit.
Worth the walk! Beautiful falls and a very nice hike from the lower falls up to this one. Takes a bit of time as we kept stopping to take photos!
Plenty of parking and footpaths clearly defined in the main areas. Quite steep in parts but not particularly strenuous. A pleasant circular walk with some good view points of the waterfall.
Fantastic Waterfall and lovley walks and views. Plenty of car parking and nice areas to have a drink and something to eat.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Good for kids
