A stunning example of medieval architecture, Alford Manor House is a 16th-century country house in Lincolnshire, England, featuring a striking mix of Tudor and Gothic styles. The house boasts an impressive façade with tall, narrow windows, ornate stone carvings, and a grand entrance with a heavy oak door. The interior showcases intricate plasterwork, ornate wooden paneling, and beautifully preserved period features. The manor house is surrounded by picturesque gardens, including a tranquil courtyard and a charming woodland walk.
We weren't here for the House. We were here for an outside performance by The Pantaloons. The house is a quite interesting building though the downstairs area now houses a bar and a cafe. There is an on site museum of old farm machinery, and the small grounds are nice too. The house is often used for weddings, so there is a permanent marquee. Worth a visit.
Visited here whilst in the area. What a little gem of a place. A beautiful place to visit and walk around, they were setting up for a wedding whilst we were there and it looked beautiful. It had a lovely little coffee shop which also sells ice cream. Well worth a visit if your in the area. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and told us a lot of information about the place. Highly recommend a visit.
Beautiful Manor and lovely staff was a bit disappointed that it wasn't set up like a home , and how it would of been back in its 'hay day' . Garden was beautiful, peaceful and and abundance of fruit trees, plants and nature. Tea room was nice I had a hot chocolate and cream, jam scone was lovely! Reasonably priced too! They had little expeditions of cameras and radios which was nice but still would of preferred it to be set out like a manor house . To the back of property was a large barn/outbuilding with lots of old tools, machinery and other old quirky pieces. There's a stream that runs along side of the manor with birds which was a tranquil place to sit for a while. The building has some disabled access for wheelchair users but not the whole building, there are a few steps in/out of some of he rooms and a lift which takes you up 2 floors but not to top of the manor which is a shame because there were some really nice pieces up there and was set out more like how it would of been before. Nice couple of hours out there is some parking also available on site and dogs are welcome on he grounds and garden but not into the manor house it's self.
Great place to visit very wonderful house Lots for the young children to learn about The history of the area and Alford Manor And of Lincolnshire life. On site cafe it's wonderful lovely cakes and drinks. The staff and volunteers are very helpful and friendly. Will definitely recommend a visit to if your in the area. The craft fair was very interesting to lots of stalls selling lots of different products and local good and art and clothing.
Brilliant visit of the museum of rural life today!!! One of the volunteers who was very knowledgeable kindly spent an hour talking our family through the collection. We then had lunch at the tea room. Quality products, good portions at very decent prices.
There is a museum at the back of the house, there are people to explain about the house and museum, they sell home grown produce from an old fashooned wagon at the front of the property. And the best bit, cake and coffee sat outside in the sunshine.
