Located in the Scottish Highlands, Allt na Peighinn Waterfall is a breathtaking natural wonder that cascades down a rocky slope, its crystal-clear waters tumbling 100 feet into a scenic gorge. The waterfall's surroundings are characterized by lush greenery and vibrant wildflowers, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere. As the water plunges into the pool below, it creates a misty veil that rises into the air, adding to the mystical ambiance of this enchanting spot.
We took our canoe here, setting off from the beach and slipway at Ord on the opposite shoreline. There's a small number of spaces to park alongside the shoreline at Ord, just off the road near to the Fisherman's Loft. On the way to the waterfall we dropped off at the small Islet - Eilean Gaineamhach an Arda with it's beautiful shell and coral beaches. Nearby is the smaller Islet - Eilean Dubh - both are best visited at low tide, when there's plenty of beach to explore. The waterfall might not be particularly large, but it has a lovely setting amongst the surrounding hills (see video). Look out for White Tailed Eagles as we spotted one perched on the nearby Islet - Eilean Gaineamhach Boreraig. Probably the same bird was seen perched on Eilean Gaineamhach an Arda too. The round trip from Ord to the waterfall was around 4.5 miles including drop-off's on the islands.
Le site est accessible depuis church of kilchrist par le sentier qui longe les anciennes marbreries.
