Alton Water Sports Centre is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts, offering a range of activities including sailing, kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding on its 15-acre lake. The centre provides equipment hire, lessons, and courses for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced participants. Visitors can also relax on the lakeside beach, enjoy a picnic, or grab a bite to eat at the on-site café.
A lovely place for a dog walk. Good car park and facilities and a nice cafe.
Beautiful place to walk around ( although it's quite a trek ) It's hilly in places. But theirs plenty of places to stop rest and take in the view's. Theirs loads to do, from water activitys, kids play area, bike hire and even some highland cow's. And don't forget the cafe, it's not the cheapest but the food is really good quality, so well worth the money. I highly recommend a visit, we will definitely visit again. Just don't forget your walking boots
Well worth a visit. Lots for the children and adults to do. Showers. Changing rooms, toilets and plenty of friendly and qualified staff. The parking is expensive at PS2 per hour for the main car park but you can pay just PS3 all day if you don't mind walking from one of the satellite ones. The walk around is about 9 miles which will take 4 to 6 hours so if that us your plan park in a satellite car park so you can have a half way break. Lots of staff. Lots of very happy parents. The cafe by the reservoir is open until close to closing time so that is great if you need something before driving home. If you want to learn to sail get a season ticket for the parking. There is a lot of water so there is lots of room to learn and practice.
Great place for active day or days. Lot's of water activities, small but guarded sand beach and lots of walking or cycling routes around.
I dunno. If sailing or paddle boarding or kayaking is your thing then this place is probably very good? We meandered around on a pedalo and it was perfectly fun.
Of course the lake and the scenery is stunning but the issue here is the price of the water sports. For a family of 4 - 2 adults, 2 children with our OWN paddle boards cost us PS66 with two bottles of water for one days access to the water. Not including parking on site. It would cost us PS1 extra per board to hire For one hour. But we took our own boards and they charged us PS66! This is daylight robbery I can't express how angry we were.
