A tranquil oasis nestled in the heart of Hampshire, Alverstone Mead is a picturesque village surrounded by rolling hills and woodlands. The gentle River Mead flows through the village, adding to its serene ambiance.
My goodness, what a majestic sight, Looking up in the trees at such a height, First, there was nothing, except for some ducks Then I turned to my partner who had whispered, 'Look!' There one was, right ahead on the walkway We beckoned our group with the quietest 'Hey!!!' He ran across the rails, rushing right past us We were then blessed with two small others Eating their nuts with no care in the world Little did they know, our hearts had unfurled Thank you, red squirrels, for such a special time This whole isle has been nothing but sublime!
Lovely area for a walk, I cycled there because there's no parking but thees is good access from the Red Squirrel trail by foot or bike. Some of the hide is closed at the moment but there's some seating areas that you can see Squirrels from. Be patient and don't bring nuts for them - it attracts vermin that can take over the habitat
Took a long time to get to the right spot, but I can finally say that I've seen red squirrels in the wild. If you are fit enough to walk for around 5km, you will love visiting this place. There are not many places to stop and sit down, but the views and sounds of nature are amazing. I'll be back as soon as possible.
Got to see red squirrels in the wild, which for a mainlander is very uncommon. Definitely recommend going late afternoon or maybe early morning as that when they are about.
Although the Hide had been vandalized we still saw red squirrels which are amazing! Shame on the vandals!
Lots of green space in a quiet area was amazing to see a red squirrel amongst the birds and other wildlife well recommended
