Located in the heart of the South Downs national park, our Museum is dedicated to preserving the industrial heritage of the South East. With 36 acres to explore and over 40 exhibits to visit, you can discover the South's working past.
I had a great visit with the Kids today. Staff were super friendly and there is loads to do there. There were a few free things for kids to create around the Museum but the best part was the staff. They were really friendly and informative and they have an obvious love of what they do. They made a real difference over other museums that don't offer this and this is incredible considering they are all volunteers. Entry price was reasonable PS30 for 1 adult and 3 children food and drink is reasonable. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to do something different in Sussex.
What a fantastic whole day place to visit. So much to see. Train trip, bus museum, radio and TV, old tools, craft workshops. Good cafe and friendly people. A great day out. Absolutely loved the vacuum cleaner in electrical museum!
What a great Museum kids loved and had some much fun with the old telephones.. Stuff where ace and we was there for a good four plus hours and we didn't see it all.. So a return trip well be done.
This is a fantastic museum set in a former chalk pit area and consists of many outbuildings that display the history of the manufacturing of lime from the chalk plus woodworking, metalworking, telecommunications, and printing to list just a few. It is run by very knowledgeable volunteers who are keen to share their experience. It is amazing to see this equipment in use, plus many interactive areas. Children can learn and enjoy the interactive sections as well as adults. There is also a mini railway and classic buses to take you around the site. A nice cafe serves lovely lunches/sandwiches etc.
Lovely day out (2 adults) with our 7 and 5 year old, spending most of the day here but I'm sure we still didn't get to see or do everything. Very Interesting for adults and engaging for kids with plenty to do, some at additional cost which we were happy to pay for such as clay work and wood turning. The gentlemen at the woodwork shop were very good with the children and they enjoyed making their butterfly and dragonfly from a block of wood which they have not done before. They loved calling each other on the home phones which they've never seen and enjoying finding out how electricity works with all the bits they could press, move, play with an read about. (the gentleman in there was also very good). Riding in the old bus was good fun and recommended by the lady on the front desk who suggested this when we said we hadn't been before, who was also lovely and explained everything in detail for us. Overall a lovely day and we will be back, thank you Xoxox
Great place for artifacts of history in our local area , lots of stuff to see and do , however I think the museum could do with improving the area near the road laying exhibition as it seems it's on its own and needs more people to visit it.
