The American Museum & Gardens provides a fabulous full day out for all adults and children. The New American Garden, Mount Vernon Garden, and play area "The Children's Garden" awaits explorers of all ages. From winding paths and colourful flowers to woodland wanders with your four-legged friends (yes, dogs on leads are welcome!), there is something for everyone to enjoy. Housed in a Grade I listed Georgian manor house with outstanding views within an area of outstanding natural beauty, on the edge of Bath, the American Museum takes you on a journey through American history, with its remarkable collection of folk, decorative arts and cultural objects.
This is a fantastic museum that doesn't overwhelm you but every piece has a distinct history. The guides are very friendly and very knowledgeable. There are no bathrooms inside the museum but there are bathrooms just outside by the cafe. Very nice outdoor eating with umbrellas with a beautiful view! When we went there was a separate exhibit in the nearby building celebrating Route 66 . The gardens and grounds are amazing.
We had a Beautiful time visiting the American Museum and Gardens today. Our 3 children (6, 10 & 16) also loved exploring the gardens, they are incredibly beautiful. Very informative, reasonably priced and a good amount to do while there. Will be back I'm sure.
Beautiful gardens set in the grounds of this museum. I didn't go into the museum. Gardens were amazing however I missed the daffodil explosion of colour, but plenty of bluebells and other blooms to see. Easy access to all arts of the gardens, accessibility has been very well thought of for those with reduced mobility. Nice cafe on site with a good choice of snacks and drinks. In the summer it will look amazing so I'll have to go back during the summer months.
This is the first time I've been back to the museum for several years. It was beautiful in the summer sunshine with incredible vistas over the garden and valley. The museum was informative and very well laid out.
A beautiful house with surrounding gardens. The children enjoyed the museum and came out reciting factoids that they've remembered about the way people lived in the past. I looked after the dog, who was welcomed with a complimentary biscuit, and behaved well on the lead. We saw a huge deer run across the path as we approached the entrance which was a particular thrill. There were many butterflies to spot and my brother is now a convert to toasted bagels after our lunch at the cafe.
Fantastic day with 2 of my grandchildren at the American Museum. Mrs Conkey was absolutely superb & the lady in the folk art centre was lovely with them. The cafe was nice & so pleased with the day I have become a member.
