Open Saturday to Wednesday 11:30am to 3pm. Last entry 30 mins before closing. MODEL VILLAGE GENERAL ADMISSION ADVANCED BOOKING IS NOT REQUIRED FOR GROUPS OF SIX PERSONS OR FEWER - However, please note that the model village and cafe both have capacity limits. Once capacity is reached, the site may temporarily close to new visitors. Anglesey Model Village is now under new ownership and re-opened to visitors in 2019, having previously been closed and abandoned for a number of years. Anglesey Model Village and Cafe provides a unique visitor experience - you'll see Anglesey as you have never seen it before. Having first opened in 1992, the model village depicts buildings, landmarks and life on Anglesey in scale form.
To start I enjoyed my visit however, I feel the price point for the model village may be disproportionate to the experience. For a start the hydropic gates were slow and creaky which gives off a kind of shoddy first impression. I felt the various displays were sometimes lacking cohesion in that some figures were of a more modern style mixed with more traditional figurines such as with clothing style within the same display. Often the models appeared quite worn too. I did however enjoy the humourous elements of the displays such as the angry farmer being blocked by the just stop oil sheep. The figures dangling from the hot air balloon and the model of the model village. The option to drive the boats on the lake was great! The cafe looked great however the wait was warned to be 45 minutes, in the end it didn't take anywhere near that which we were thankful for. Staff were very friendly and the vegan options I'd say were some of the best. I feel that maybe the cafe and escape room element should take a higher priority over model village in that the model village in it's current set up should be a minor entry fee in addition to the cafe. I see the wait and party numbers are a common point of contention to which I would agree with. Get the cafe running to top capacity and you'll have a great little stop!
Brilliant little model village of places all around Anglesey. Nice little touches within the names of some of the places too - won't spoil it! Dog friendly which was a big plus - Marvin loved it, incredibly intrigued by the miniature people. Went to the cafe at the end and had a lovely bacon and egg bap and a 12" deep pan pizza. Food was lovely and the staff even better.
Great food including gluten free, I had a GF pizza and would recommend! Decent sized portions. Dogs are allowed in both the outdoor area of cafe and the model village. The Model village was quirky, we found it funny but it depends on your taste in humour! Would visit again.
This place was wild: I'm going to break it up into two halves the cafe and the village. The cafe: Driving towards the establishment you are greeted with large signs advertising the cafes 'thick' milkshake and pizza. Having just been for a long walk this morning we would have easily considered a pizza. However, upon getting to the cafe we were told 'its extremely busy it will be at least a 20 minute wait'. Upon consideration of this we just said we would just have drinks and be on our way around the village. We ordered two 'thick' shakes which came to an eye watering 11.98...If you have a family or heaven forbid order food you may need to have a conversation with your mortgage advisor. Not only that, it wasn't particularly busy, at least 5 staff were working and I counted approximately 6 tables, all of which had been served and largely dealt with, which lead to visible confusion when our milk shakes arrived a full 15 minutes later.. Now, we were advertised as a 'thick' milkshake so I expected something akin to that served by McDonalds etc. instead what I generally 'thin' serviceable milkshake in a glass cappuccino glass of approximately 300ml absolutely not worse the cost. The main reason I'm writing this review is what I witnessed behind me during our wait for said milkshake a group of 7 sat down waiting to be served. Instead of being welcomed and asking to take an order or drinks etc the staff member hurried over exclaiming that he 'wouldn't know whether he could serve or not because they didn't book and it *might* be too busy (it wasn't we were the only customers who had to yet receive their order) the group of seven politely asked if they could make there order and they would told they would have to wait... Naturally the group of 7 just got up and left to go elsewhere..I'm genuinely shocked at how poorly this was handled and that a business with huge overheads is happy turning down a potential large sale... Especially during a half term. 7 is not a big group...sort it out. Now the village Some of the dioramas, buildings and moving parts are thoughtfully made with some fun jokes and puns. However, any immersion is quickly scuppered with the careless placement of props, figures and vehicles from the wrong period, scale and style which could easily be sorted with some minor rearrangement and a bit of a clean. I was also surprised there were no activities specifically for children such as a simple treasure hunt type task to locate different items in the village For an PS8.50 entry I had seen everything within 30 minutes and certainly felt robbed. I gave two stars because they allowed dogs, he liked the train and the dinosaurs. Overall I can't recommend this especially to families it's an absolute tourist trap and there are so many better value things you can do in the area!
100% worth going for all the joke names and occupations on the model village shops and stores! We enjoyed the gnome count. Tricky! And the model village of the model village within the model village. It was like being inside 'Inception'! But we worked it out. We went to the cafe too and enjoyed our meal there.
Small but very well presented. Wandered round in about 30 minutes. Didn't eat at the cafe but it looked fine.
