This 52-hectare woodland reserve features a mix of ancient woodland, grassland, and wetland habitats, providing a haven for a diverse range of flora and fauna. The reserve's woodland is dominated by oak, beech, and birch trees, with a carpet of bluebells, wild garlic, and wood anemones in the spring. The grasslands are home to a variety of wildflowers, including orchids, and the wetlands support a range of aquatic plants and insects. The reserve is a popular spot for walkers, with several trails of varying difficulty that offer scenic views of the surrounding countryside. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot a range of species, including fallow deer, tawny owls, and kingfishers.
Fairly basic walk. Very muddy along the various tracks running through the wood when it has been raining, even after a week or so of dry weather. Wood is quite dense, so mostly the walking is along broader farm tracks rather than finding your own trail.
Lovely place for a walk. Well maintained with benches dotted around the wood.
Beautiful morning out with the family!! Really pretty with the bluebells
Lovely wood. Most of the trees are now so old they are dead or falling. I dont know who needs manage the new growth to keep it up. Kids love it here sometimes I bring my dogs. Not impressed with dog poo left in and out of bags around her wood!.
One of my favourite local walks. Nice and quiet, although gets a bit boggy in Winter.
We love to take the dogs here. Nice and cool in the hot weather.
