Fighter planes, attack helicopters & other aircraft illustrate the history of British Army aviation.
Good balance of facts and things for children to do. Brilliant displays of aircraft and informative boards relating to them. Cafe overlooking runway, so if you are lucky you may see some action. Well worth a visit.
Excellent day out, will come back. A lot to view and learn about Army Flying, kept my 9yr old grandson fully engrossed. Nice cafe with good selection of various food. Well worth the entrance fee.
Great place to explode a bit of amazing history with the family, young or adolescent - the exhibits are really family friendly and offer an education to those inclined to read and listed to the exhibits. Great selection of aircraft from across the ages. The cafe was a great stopping place for lunch with the kids and provided a welcome break in proceedings to recharge the kids for the second half of the exploration. My favourite exhibits were the massive wooden gliders from WW2 - amazing story and history in them.
Interesting event with displays of both historical aircraft, old & very modern helicopters. Access to some helicopters delight kids. Parachute display team, which were active as we arrived at the car park at 11.30. So better to arrive a bit earlier to enjoy the spectacle (opening time was 10am). Plenty of space to picnic etc. So bring chairs or blankets. Luckily, it did not rain as virtually no cover anywhere. Very enjoyable day & good value.
Great museum. Lots of information and nicely laid out with the history of Army flying. Cafe has an outside seating area and even got the bo us of watching some takeoffs. Would definitely go back when I have some more time.
We booked a day in advance, parked no problem, greeted by friendly staff. We were impressed by the volume of planes on display in 2 halls and the historical displays. There were no special flights or events going on, but we saw a trainer plane landing and taking off. I was particularly interested in Operation Market Garden and Horsa gliders, and there was a fair bit of information and gliders to see. Only 30 minutes from Southampton and lots for the kids to do. The cafe was good value and quality too.
