A majestic bronze sculpture of a horse's head, Arria stands over 15 meters tall and weighs over 50 tons. The stunning piece of art is a masterpiece of modern sculpture, with intricate details and textures that evoke the power and beauty of the horse.
I used to see this every day when working in the Glasgow area 10 years ago. This is the first time I've been up close, and it is massive. We parked at the end of Craighalbert Road. It was not the best as it was incredibly muddy. There is a cemetery alongside the Arria site with a handful of parking bays for those visiting loved ones.
Public work of art. Nice walk and impressive to see. Benches at the site but no other amenities, so take a snack and some water and enjoy the wander and the view. Can also be seen from the road by car, though probably best for passengers! Cumbernauld Village is close with cafes, pubs and other amenities.
Very nice statue but there are no parking spaces. Google Map can lead you there and walk 2 mins.
Striking sculpture by Andy Scott, previously only seen in passing from nearby motorway. Turns out there's a quiet dude road to an adjacent graveyard, at the foot of which is an easy path that loops around the statue
I highly recommend you stop by this sculpture. It's close to the roadway. A once in a lifetime view of stunning artwork!
Beautiful sculpture looking towards Cumbernauld. Behind is Eastfield Cemetery and lots of woodland. The size of this is enormous and I was very impressed when I made sight of it. Nice walk enjoyed it. The M8 is directly below Aria.
