The Grade 1 listed Ashton Memorial was commissioned by Lancaster industrialist Lord Ashton as a tribute to his late wife Jessy. Designed by John Belcher, it was completed in 1909. At around 150 feet tall it dominates the Lancaster skyline. The first floor outdoor viewing gallery provides superb views of the surrounding countryside and out across Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland fells and mountains. A truly stunning and unique wedding venue.
The memorial is a beautiful building inside and out, with an added bonus of access to higher outside levels for panoramic viewing; this is accessed by staircases on either end of the building. The art inside, as well as the chandelier, is simply stunning. I would highly recommend the visit, and it's also a stones throw away from the butterfly house and play park for families.
Beautiful place. We got married here and visited again last weekend. Would highly recommend for a wedding venue or as a day out with family. It's situated in a wonderful park with a great playground for children. If you haven't been, go!
Iconic memorial which I've always wanted to visit after several years of seeing it from the Motorway. It certainly did not disappoint up close and really did take your breath away. Very photogenic as well and someone was actually having their wedding here at the time of our visit. Amazing views across to Morecambe from the top as well.
This has to be the most stunning place to get married! Our wedding here was a dream come true. Beth, the venue manager, made everything seamless for us - on hand throughout to answer questions, recommend suppliers, and make suggestions to ensure our day ran smoothly. Our guest were blown away by how beautiful the Memorial and Park were.
Beautiful environment and location, excellent support but the acoustics were poor, very echoey with sound lost in the high ceiling
We have always enjoyed visiting the Ashton Memorial and Williamson Park so there was no question in my mind that this is where I wanted to get married. Beth was fantastic throughout the planning process and on the day and she helped us to feel relaxed and enjoy it all. The venue itself is stunning and our guests who had travelled from all over England loved it. We had a string quartet playing and the acoustics were just wonderful. The drinks reception afterwards was fantastic with the clouds clearing to show the wonderful views. Thank you to Beth and the team!
