Astley Hall is a museum and art gallery housed within a Grade I listed historic house and is managed by Chorley Council. The Hall is set within the beautiful surroundings of Astley Park which include historic woodland, a lake, a fully renovated Victorian walled garden alongside clean and modern facilities for visitors to enjoy. The Hall is perhaps best known for its stunning Jacobean plasterwork ceilings and the house is built around an internal Elizabethan courtyard. The four wings of the house were extended by the families who lived here and most of the original features are retained to this day.
We love Astley Hall and Park. Our Granddaughter loves the walled garden and the statue of the soldier. Oh and don't forget the ducks. Such a beautiful place to visit with so much to do and a tasty treat at the cafe.
This is a real gem! The facade with the mini windows is almost modern, while the inside is packed with furniture from the period and unique stucco ceilings, some of them more impressive than beautiful but still a pleasure. there is a big park and a great cafe attached. Entrance fee is a ridiculous 5 pounds.
Lovely to revisit the house after a gap of several years. The guides were incredibly friendly and helpful. And although my wife is a mobility scooter user, there was plenty for her to see and do on the round floor.
Fascinating old stately home with an interesting history. The extensive very walkable grounds host shops, cafe and a gallery. Very reasonably priced entry. Must visit. Just outside town centre.
Lovely historical manor house and outbuildings beautifully restored and repurposed, the hall as a museum and the stables and courtyard as a cafe. Set in well maintained and extensive parkland in the centre of Chorley, it is a must see for any visit to Chorley.
Lovely building in the heart of Astley Park, an incredible historic building with lots of stories to tell. Ideal for all of the family to enjoy and learn the local history of the building and the Chorley community. Full of outstanding architecture and beautiful pieces from its history. I would definitely recommend visiting with the family and taking in all of its raw history.
