Centuries-old stone castle frequently used as a filming location. Themed cycling tours offered.
Very well maintained, small castle. It is free to enter, and open until 4pm. It has a steep spiral staircase up onto a open walkway with views over the water and the trees to Castle Ward.
This castle is apart of the game of thrones tour you can do at castle ward. The castle is locked up however you can go directly up to it while wondering around. I will say doing this tour and going to the Cuan afterwards was the best experience. If you are a game of thrones fan this is the place for you. We were lucky enough to get to meet the dogs from the film and a few people who played as extras. So much to see here. Make sure you have your hiking shoes packed and ready to go!
Went here as part of a game of thrones tour, lovely location, great walks. Is pretty flat route around the location except for the last little bit of a slope to the castle.
An interesting free to enter monument with beautiful views across Strangford Lough on a clear day. Access is up a grass hill so access isn't suitable for those with mobility issues. This is a nice place to have a picnic on a sunny and dry day. However, there aren't any seats here so you have to sit on the low wall. Just be very careful of the drop on the other side of the wall. Well worth visiting if you are in the area or visiting Castle Ward.
Beautiful! Amazing views. We visited on a Saturday, entry was free.
Lovely walk its beside castle ward so lots of places to explore and pretend you are part of game of thrones
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
