Educational railway with a station-based buffet and hosting special themed events year-round.
A decent quick get away place for the young ones. The train engines steam and diesel run on different days and keep an eye if you have a preference. You can get the ticket at the station, free parking, and a busy restaurant with a children's play park in the neighborhood should keep the little one engaged for at least half a day.
A fantastic little heritage line with incredibly enthusiastic and passionate volunteers. There are lots of great vantage points for photos utilising the footpath which runs alongside the railway. At three miles, it's not the longest line but you can see the ambition they have to expand. Overall I was very impressed and would highly recommend it to others!
Very cool, historic old train ride can be found here, the staff were friendly and the journey took 50 minutes for 3 stations. By the time I visited, we were also allowed to visit the engine locomotives. A really fun and interesting experience, will come back again. Make sure to buy your tickets online before visit as it's really popular with many people, although there's a lot of people but the carriages are not crowded. You are allowed to choose where to sit and which carriage, there are no seat reservations so just sit wherever you want. There's also first class which doesn't require special reservations. The first class bar is also filled and there's lots of choice available :)
Had planned on walking the Bristol to Bath cycle path (or at least some of it) but saw that the steam trains were operating due to Bank Holiday, so we jumped aboard instead! Prices were so reasonable for the hours trip. We chose a small compartment so that our 19months old son could explore within the room and not be a nuisance to others. He loved watching the engine being uncoupled and brought down the track. A great way to spend an hour (or two with a cafe stop) before walking some of the cycle path and back. Staff were super helpful as well.
We attend the dining Sunday lunch experience today. Friendly staff. Good service. Starter for us was soup nice size portion tasty too. Lunch was beef dinner nice portion size and good selection of veg. Pudding hubby had cheese and biscuits, I had apple and caramel crumble . Both delicious. Only little negatives was lunch could do with being slight warmer, cheese selection was too big hence wastage. Crumble came with cream not custard Lovely experience thoroughly enjoyed ..
Great railway I have one problem though everybody thinks the green Polish tkh steam train is a quintessentially British small steam train when it's actually Polish this angers me so much I am super pissed off
