The reserve also provides a safe haven for injured or orphaned badgers, with a rehabilitation program in place to help them recover and eventually return to the wild. Guided tours are available, offering a unique and educational experience for nature lovers and families alike.
Thank you so much for this magical experience! Enjoyed every bit of it. Spent 4 hours at the hide, the last hour was action packed.
We booked this badger watching activity by a recommendation from the host of the cottage. It was fairly easy to book - just phoned in based on the info on their website. They need to take the payment in advance - PS120 per hide. There are two hides in the farm. We arrived at 7pm. Then we just waited quietly for the badger to appear. There was a diary from previous visitors. It seems most people observed badgers between 9-10pm. Luckily the first badger appeared at 8pm and we saw it busy feeding for 10min. We had to head back London for work, so we cant stay much longer. Will definitely come back and stay till later into the dark. Highly recommend to bring some books or even a card game - keep yourself entertained while waiting.
Beautiful place located in the most wonderful Dorset countryside in the Piddle Valley! A superb secluded corner with gorgeous landscape, various wildlife...and of course badgers!
What a magical experience watching badgers in the wild! We had our own hide which was situated right by the badger sett. We arrived at half 6 but it wasn't until about 10 that the badgers came out. 100% worth the wait though! There is other wildlife to see too including a tawny owl box. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
Well worth a visit as I have wanted to see badgers in the wild! The badgers were very shy and nervous. Worth the wait for them to come out. I recommend that you take a book and be aware that other people you share the hide with can be noisy!
A great experience with friendly host greeting us on our arrival.. We saw 2 owls, 6 badgers and a pheasant during our visit..
Good for kids
