This ancient woodland is a haven for nature lovers and walkers, featuring a mix of deciduous and evergreen trees, including oak, beech, and pine. The woods are crisscrossed by a network of trails, including the 12-mile Bagworth Heath Woods Circular Walk, which offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, foxes, and birds, and is particularly popular during the spring and summer months when the woodland floor is carpeted with bluebells and wildflowers.
So we stumbled upon this place about a week ago while looking at Google maps, searching for places to go to. Didn't really take any notice and today it popped up on my feed so though ok must be faith, let's go and check it out. Followed Google maps which took us to a dead end road. On both sides of the road there's a car park, all of which are free, yeepers!!! We parked in the one on the right. There are lots of wide tracks and dense forest with a variety of trees. It is very quiet and peaceful. On this part of the park there is the occasional horse rider so please be mindful of this if you're having bubbly doggies. It's a big woodland we must have spent about two hours and don't think we walked it all. Then we went across the road to the park opposite as it's the same place and let me tell you now my eyes were like This place is amazing!!! Firstly you'll see a beautiful lake that you can walk all around by following the pathway. But if you go off that pathway to some of the other ones you'll see that there are few more lakes, all beautiful. The whole park is just wonderfully maintained and just gorgeous In this part of the woods there's no livestock either. We are definitely going back Love it!
Bagworth Heath is an extensive area of woods and open land for wildlife and walkers with trails throughout. Created on the site of the old Desford colliery, traces of which still exist. Free car parking and road parking. Lovely quiet area for walking and birdwatching. Lakes for private fishing. Beware it can be very boggy in places in wet weather.
Nice area for walking. Some of the paths a little overgrown. Needs cutting. Great parking areas. A lot of picnic benches and seatings around but the ALL need some maintenance, painting, repairing, leveling.
Lovely walk with plenty of things to discover. A little gem of a place. Would be great in the summer so will make it a regular walk from now on. Only negatives are the lack of facilities and other dog walkers. Dogs should not be off lead in a public place- especially dogs with bad recall, which is what we experienced today.
A very pleasant place to go for a walk around. Parking is easy enough and there is a mixture of paths and grass trails
Frosty cold day after a couple of days of -3 overnight temperatures left a lots of pathways muddy, frosty and icy but was still very enjoyable on a winters sunny day. Quiet peaceful walk, just what was needed....
