This former lockkeeper's cottage, now a museum, showcases the history of the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal. The cottage has been restored to its original 19th-century appearance, offering a glimpse into the life of a lockkeeper and their family during that time period. The museum features exhibits on the construction of the canal, the lives of the people who worked on it, and the cargo that was transported along it. Visitors can explore the cottage's rooms, including the kitchen, parlour, and bedrooms, which are furnished with period items. The museum also includes a reconstructed lockkeeper's office and a display of traditional canal crafts.
Nice walk along the Cam from Fen Ditton. The path is narrow in places but the river bank path is wide and sturdy. Not very busy at all on a clear and sunny weekend.
Quiet and peaceful working lock on the River Cam. Often see a variety of bird life in the vicinity(see photos)
Interesting lock for canal boats along the river Cam. Great place for a walk, run or cycle whilst enjoying one of the most scenic routes in Cambridge.
Lovely beautiful walk by here the only thing that lets it down is all the colleges using the area for their boats Feel sorry for people walking as their instructeds that rides on a bike Are miserable and stuck up plus they don't give a To hoots if there's someone fishing Which ruins the atmosphere but when they're not about beautiful peaceful friendly environment to walk along and it's nice to see club Bailiffs and A,T Water bailiff Patrolling with very helpful and friendly attitudes there is ongoing work along stretch from Milton loch upwards towards Cambridge
Really nice to walk past. Waited a few minutes to see a boat leave the lower gate. There's a mini waterfall on the other side of the river. We're looking forward to exploring the east side of the river (there's 2 small bridges to cross the river Cam here), hopefully going to Fen Ditton.
A great place for walking or running. The best thing is sitting at the benches and watching the surroundings.
