We are one of the Great Little Trains of Wales offering a delightful return journey alongside Lake Bala the largest natural lake in Wales.
Nice journey up the side of the lake. Then time for snacks and a brew before returning. Order tickets on line. Great couple of hours.
A pleasant day, partly cloudy and with some light rain turning heavy later that day The Bala Lake Railway is a narrow-gauge railway about four and a half miles long. The steam train takes you on a very scenic route, out and back, along the east of Bala Lake. It takes around one hour. There is a cafe at the station and a free car park . Well worth a visit. Thursday 08th August 2024.
A must to visit if you're in the area. A sedate little ride through beautiful scenery. Lovely teas shop and gift shop with helpful knowledgeable volunteers at opposite end to Bala.
The Bala railway is a wonderful excursion with spectacular views of the lake. There are steam and electric engines depending on the day. It can get cold out of summer so wrap up warm. The station at Llanuwchllyn is charming and has a museum of history of the line
Great little place with lovely staff. I remember the times when this was a full sized railway - many years ago now. We had a lovely day and a nice coffee and cake in the booking office cum shop sum cafe! Well worth a visit, hope it gets into Bala one day.
Great fun! We did a summer special BBQ train, was lovely to stop by the lake and have a BBQ by the local butcher in Bala.
