19th-century castle & surrounding park with ornamental gardens, nature trails & cultural events.
I had a wonderful visit to Balloch Castle! The castle itself is a beautiful historic building, and although the interior isn't open to the public, the exterior is still impressive. The surrounding park is well-maintained and offers breathtaking views of Loch Lomond. It's a perfect spot for a peaceful walk or a picnic. There's also plenty of wildlife to spot and picturesque trails to explore. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a serene place to relax, Balloch Castle and Country Park is well worth a visit!
Lovely grounds for a walk, very well kept! The hill is pretty steep but they've got a new cement walkway that winds gradually up to the castle! Nice view of the water from the hill. The castle is unfortunately not in great shape and is fenced as can be seen from some of the photos. The restrooms were also locked and we couldn't find any other ones nearby.
Beautiful country park on the shores of Loch Lomond, ideal for day picnic or simply you can roam around the whole park. There's a small coffee shop next to the pier serving coffee, snacks and water. The internal roads are directly connected to the Balloch city center. Overall a beautiful place to spend your day and it's pet friendly too.
Fantastic grounds and well used. The castle is unfortunately closed and looks like it may stay that way for a while. It is important to me as part of my family history. Great it's still there and looks like it may be preserved but been closed for some time.
I wanted to share my excitement about our castle's breathtaking views atop the hill and the serene walkway by the river. It's a perfect escape for relaxation! Don't forget to visit the charming cafe nearby for a delightful treat. Let's plan a visit soon to soak in the beauty together!
Well kept park that has wide footpaths for those with unsteady feet or wheelchairs and a few forest paths that in May needed a steady foot through puddles and mud... So walks for all types of people and energy levels. Kids will love the smaller paths around the walled garden to go off and explore. Almost like mini mazes. Walled garden is very well maintained and easy to see with wheelchair access. The tea shop on the pier is excellent for snacks and drinks....and very well served. Staff very friendly and helpful....and plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the views.
