This ancient burial ground dates back to the Neolithic period, around 3700-3500 BC. The barrow is a large, grass-covered mound surrounded by a ditch and bank, with a smaller mound to the southeast. The site is believed to have been used for ceremonial and burial purposes, with the larger mound possibly containing the remains of a significant figure or family. The barrow's location on a ridge offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, adding to its mystique and historical significance.
Intriguing structure in an amazing location. Views over top of Cot Valley and over to lighthouse/volcanic islands. Even more intriguing because of its contradictions and rebuilding. Hopefully it gets an update investigation using modern technology. In the meantime just take in the awe and majesty of where it is and what it is.
Nice bronze age village, bit out of the way but can visit with cape cornwall. You wan walk onto the barrow.
In a spectacular cliff-edge position, of the unique Bronze Age Tomb. The actual Bronze Age Tomb, there is not much to see but the views of the ocean & cliffs in the background are definitely worth the drive. Loved the scenery.
Beautiful walk easy paths to get up to- you can walk to Lands End on the Coastal Path if you want to- its 5+ 1/2miles - gorgeous views.!
There is no entrance as such but at the front stones are protruding that act as steps to walk around on top of it. From there you could scramble down to the circular path inside, though no point as you can see it all from on top. Looking out to sea you can see the Silly Isles on the horizon. To the right is a good view of Cape Cornwall. Should you drive there be careful parking on the left of the road, ensure you don't reverse too far back, down the cliff.
Stunning views, amazing sunsets, great walks. Also a Bronze age burial site to look & read about. Lovely spot to sit & relax.
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
