A former Royal Palace, Norman stronghold, crown residence and the astonishing recreation of Victorian innovator and engineer William Armstrong, Bamburgh Castle is open daily to members of the public. Brilliant place. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. So much history and the displays are first class. There are 2 cafes on site and the parking is good. PS5 all day and this covers two other local car parks. Views are stunning.
Top notch adventure and experience for entire family. Wonderful castle and great day out for entire family including dogs. The grounds are massive, there are picnic spaces, views are absolutely breath taking and when you have enough of history, you can always go to the beach, which is short distance from the castle. Just beware, some of the places in the grounds are real steep, might be challenging for people with limited mobility or prams. Please consider full day for seeing the castle of you want a full and deep experience.
A well maintained castle, full of history, artifacts and props from The Last Kingdom! There is plenty to do with demonstrations, lawn games, two cafes and plenty of viewpoints and seating. The stunning coastal scenery is a must too! Just a short walk down the hill and over the sand dune takes you to a beautiful white sand beach with views of Holy Island in the distance.
Great place to visit, loved the halls and state rooms ........ and just walking around the castle grounds, looking over the walls across the landscape and sea, plus finding out all about Armstrong inventions and links to this great engineering pioneer, the museum is very interesting. We parked in the lower car park PS10 for the day, the actual castle car park is PS7. Spent a good 4 hours taking it all in, last entry is 4pm.
We have been looking forward to visiting Bamburgh Castle since watching The Last Kingdom series. It is a long distance for us, but after planning a caravan trip up north, we finally made it. As you drive in, you can see the castle dominating the skyline. It is stunning with all initial expectations exceeded. There is plenty of parking in several carparks that share one payment. One in the town, one at the castle and one further down by the beach. One ticket at each of these will work at the others. The castle itself was spectacular. The walk around the rooms was full of history and information. There is a cafe with good food at a reasonable price. I highly recommend visiting here if you are in the area.
Such a fantastic day out, Not only historical, but, beautiful views, a great aviation museum, very informative. Great atmosphere, not too expensive. Friendly staff, helpful, informative. The Costumes from The Last Kingdom, the Arthur Throne
