Rocky overhang offering sweeping views of the valley & reservoir with a variety of trails nearby.
Bamford Edge, it's just a stunning place in all ways. There are apparently a few different ways to get on the top. However, I would recommend the wild path from Ladybower Fisheries, which is just right at the end of the car park. The walk/trail it's not difficult, matter of fact it's very pleasant and beautiful path. Once, you get to the stone fence have a stop to enjoy the valley and a small stream - the sound and smell of freshness and forest will embrace you with peace. Once you get there, take time to enjoy the valley, views and surroundings. Beautiful day and way to reconnect
Visited on the evening of the 10/08/24 to view the stunning sunset. We parked at the bottom (new road) and hiked up the slight incline to the top (approx 2 mile hike). Such stunning views throughout. In one of the photos, you can see Lady Bower damn and reservoir.
My Most visited place. One of my favourite places throughout all seasons. Lady Bower is spectacular at sunset from Bamford Edge . I'll always keep coming back, have done for 3 years straight!
It is the most beautiful part of the Peak district I have visited so far. Stunning views of the reservoir and the mountains around it. The hike is short but steep at times. The map is not clear about how to reach the Bamford Edge. You just need to start walking above the Heatherdene car park. Once at the Bamford Edge, one can extend the walk as long as possible. One has to be very careful trying to take pictures at the edge stones. The fall is very steep. It's very beautiful and worth driving for.
Went to Bamford Edge for the first time in many years & opted to go for the sunset views. Despite some clouds, the views didn't disappoint. We parked along the verge, jumped over the style & took a short stroll (approx 2miles) up the incline. The path is a dirty track & uneven, going up is easier than coming down. The views start about halfway up & are quite something. Once at the top you can choose how far you walk & what sort of view you want. We opted to walk further round so we could watch over Lady Bower. Around 9.30pm the park ranger comes to advise you to leave.
Lovely walk, great view! Lots of people (but in a nice way, didn't feel crowded) and dogs out for a walk. I was inspired to go because it's a location for Pride and Prejudice, but due to the number of people it was hard to find the right spot. We had a great time though and the landscape is very dramatic and beautiful. Well worth the trip!
