This 18th-century walled garden is a tranquil oasis in the heart of Bedfords Park, featuring a beautiful blend of flowers, shrubs, and trees. The garden's historic walls enclose a charming space filled with vibrant colors and sweet scents, where visitors can stroll along meandering paths, discover hidden corners, and enjoy peaceful moments surrounded by nature.
Visited today and made very welcome by the volunteers thank you, it is well worth a visit
Beautifully maintained small walled garden..Hats off to the volunteers for their wonderful efforts. Nothing much to do, Good place to celebrate Apple day on 3rd October. Found the place expensive, for shopping fruit or vegetables but beautiful place to visit.
15 years ago, hundreds of Scouts came to the garden from the nearby World Scout Jamboree in Hylands Park Chelmsford. Scouts from all over the world. The park was severely overgrown and over 8 days the Scouts cut down the brambles, nettles, trees and other stuff, refound the potting shed and cleared every bit of land there. The Council weren't interested in the place till we did the work. Every Scout that attended left a handprint on a wall, I hope they are still there!? If anyone knows Lois Amos, please ask her to get in touch with me. We made such a difference all those years ago.
Lovely walled Garden to appreciate nature and relax. It's only open on Tues and Thursdays. Worth visiting. Hidden gem.
Beautiful park. I went to check out the location for Apple day. Everyone in the visitors centre was very polite and helpful. It's a great place for families.
The restored walled garden has an orchard full of Essex apples, polytunnels, cafe, original glasshouses for melons, peaches and so on, fruit sales, and even a little museum of gardening bygones. Great place to visit or volunteer, and have a great Apple Day every year
