This ancient woodland is a treasure trove of natural beauty, boasting a rich tapestry of flora and fauna. Towering trees, including oak, beech, and birch, stretch towards the sky, their gnarled branches tangled in a canopy of leaves that filters the sunlight, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor. The air is alive with the sweet songs of birds and the gentle rustle of leaves, while the soft earthy scent of the forest floor rises to greet visitors. Winding paths and hidden clearings invite exploration, revealing hidden gems, such as the sparkling Bellever Brook, which babbles and chirps its way through the heart of the forest.
A lovely, peaceful, and calm place for a nice walk with nice views. Perfect for dogs as lots of different smells for them to sniff to keep them happy. A good place to bring kids as you can paddle your feet. It has a carpark which you pay for, but it's a fair price, we paid around PS2 for 3 hours, or it's PS5 for all day. Free if you are a member.
Great part of Dartmoor, not far from Princetown. You have the option to stay by the river, which is a great place for kids to play in or to explore the walks to Bellever Tor and old settlements. It can get busy in the car park, but other car parks close by. You can walk or drive to the Clapper bridge as well.
Lovely few hours spent here. Had a picnic and enjoyed the peace and quiet until other people came. Great spot for kids to play in the river. One of my favourite places on the moor.
Nice place to visit with large car park and toilet facilities. There is a shallow river with an abundance of wildlife to see.
Peace and quiet. A fantastic walk up to Bellever Tor...check for livestock as there are Ponies that live around the area but plenty of space to let dogs have a great runaround (make sure they have good re-call)... 3 hours of beautiful views & walks.
Accessible from a small car park off a lane near postbridge, Bellever Forest has trails through the mostly pine forest. At the far end this opens up to a tor and the wider moors. Some photos here from a recent snowy walk.
