Great spot to start your trip to Bennachie. The trek up to Mither's Tap is rather steep at times, but once you've made it up, you get rewarded with a beautiful view. Be sure to continue on to the Oxen Craig and the other, smaller granite tops on the ridge. All are easily accessible via the many footpaths along the ridge, no map necessary. Going down you can also take a detour via the many smaller trails that go along the mountain side, before they meet up again at the visitor centre.
Lovely start to our walk up the peak! It's beautiful but be ready with a windproof jacket as it is windy
Amazing place.. great hike .. you can BBQ as well.
Excellent place for active recreation.Very good for short or long walking and the same time if someone is happy for hiking. Stunning views from top of Mither Tap. Interesting ruins of Pikt's Fortes on top of mountain.
Great coffee sold here. Perfect meeting point for a hill walk. Friendly staff. Lots of parking, picnic benches, toilets, etc.
Lovely walks. Toilets and other facilities next to the parking are closed outside of the opening hours of the visitors centre: Would have been nice if the toilets were still accessible. Fair warning: The info board at the start states that the Mither Tap route is pretty intense and while it doesn't seem that way the first km, the last km to the top certainly is steep. Sportive clothing and water bottle recommended! :)
