7 1/4" miniature railway, 1 mile in length, in the Sussex countryside. The railway is now closed for winter maintenance, except for Santa Specials in December and will reopen fully at Easter 2024. The railway runs every weekend from April through to September, and some weekdays in East Sussex School holidays (see our website for details). The railway offers a 1mile ride aboard one of our miniature trains, you may even spot a few sheep along the way. Please note: The Wildfowl and Motor Museum closed in September 2018. Why not combine a trip on the railway with a visit to Branching Out Adventures - burn off some energy and challenge yourself on the high ropes course? Don't forget to watch out for our Santa Specials via our Facebook page.
Lovely little railway. Friendly staff and nice long ride. Great for all the family.
My wife bought us tickets to the Santa Express at the Bentley Miniature Railway. They were PS20 as one ticket comes with two free adult tickets. Upon arrival I was disappointed. The car park was unlit and uneven making it perilous walking towards the tent. Portable toilets greeted us along with Pizzeria Al Forno. The food from this van was great and a welcome change from chips. Inside the presentation was underwhelming, but don't be fooled, my two-year-old loved it, and that's what mattered to us. He was able to use guttering to roll baubles along, make reindeer food and have his handprint. The staff and the children helpers were great. Along with the food, this kept him entertained for over an hour until it was our time on the Santa Express. We queued up, all excited, but then found out they were running 15 minutes late. He had to go back to the tent. This was too distressing for my son. I wish we knew they were running behind. When it was our turn it was magical. Strings of colourful LEDs and inflatables before heading towards Santa's Grotto. Inside was Santa and his helper. It was such a beautiful moment. Santa was so lovely with our son and his helper kindly filmed. We didn't feel rushed at any point and the gift was a wonderful wooden number puzzle, which we really appreciated. Now we know what to expect we will be coming again next year.
Good length track, over 1 mile Interesting layout, with complex track design. Added bonus of getting off halfway for a forest adventure course which needs extra, reasonable, entry charge.
A really worth while day out for children and adults alike! Over a mile of track. For PS5 a person you can ride as many trains as you like all day!!!! Heaven for all enthusiastic train buffs! Lovely cafe next to the site. If the weather is good, take a picnic. Would advise the ladies to take a small cushion to use to sit on the trains. The wooden seats are a bit hard!!!! Well worth a visit and a cheap day out!
I came here for a Steam Driver Experience day. I had a great time. I spent most of the day driving, my family arrived later and had unlimited Steam Train rides. A big thank you to all the Volunteers especially Hugh and Alex. Recommended
Visited here Easter 23 fit Easter egg hunt , we enjoyed the various stalls , a good selection of food outlets and attractions for the children , face paints and we enjoyed the train ride . Also the egg hunt was a success , as the children had to collect various letters to win a Easter egg.
