Binchester Roman Fort is now closed for the Winter. Groups and school trips, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
A great little local attraction, that packs a lot on for such a small site. Without attractions being there you'd typically spend around an hour - an hour and a half per visit (children dependant). There is a shed for some children's activities to take place, such as mosaic creations. Entrance was PS6 per adult and PS4 per child. There is a concession for others too. There are toilets available at the site, but they are only portaloos, and not an enclosed brick building.
Very informative about each section. Wheelchair accessible, you can still see but not go down to the section, (stairs).
The gentleman in the office was extremely helpful and pleasant and told us lots of information on the place. Hopefully there will be more excavation in the near future as it's a fascinating place.
Good place to visit and staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Site well kept and loads of information boards to inform you about the site
So glad I went here if you into history it's a place to see
If your interested in Roman forts then this is well worth visiting. It's story will continue to expand the more archeology that is completed there. A++++++++
