Bincknoll Castle is a 17th-century castle situated in Wiltshire, England. The castle features a mix of medieval and classical architectural styles, with a façade adorned with ornate stone carvings and a grandiose entrance. The interior boasts opulent state rooms, including a lavish ballroom, a library, and a dining room, all decorated with intricate plasterwork, ornate mirrors, and fine art collections. The castle's grounds encompass 300 acres of parkland, featuring a tranquil lake, walking trails, and a variety of wildlife.
Peaceful and interesting place. Walk across the fields to get there was quite muddy (but we have had a lot of rain recent weeks).
Nice walk from broad town. Quite steep and overgrown in places so not for young children. Sign posting is not great and as others have mentioned, there is no historical info on site. Despite this, I'd still recommend as a good walk, with nice views of the white horse on the way.
Great site of ancient hill fort - lovely views
Just outside of Royal Wootton Bassett, walking to the Castle from Broadtown is a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning. The path isn't particularly obvious at times and can be a little treacherous for those who aren't so sure on their feet. whilst a there is a sign with some details for the white horse near by, there isn't anything about the history of the Castle unfortunately. Still a lovely vista from the top and well worth checking out. Although I'd recommend going to Barbury, Uffington and Liddington over this Iron Age Castle!
A hidden gem. Lovely views. Very quiet as hard to find suitable places to park and walk from. Will try the white horse route next time.
Fantastic view when you're up there ! It is very much left to nature which is nice because it's so remote and peaceful although it would've been nice to see a plaque with a bit of info about it.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
