This challenging 10-mile hike rewards adventurers with breathtaking views of the Mourne Mountains and the surrounding countryside. The trail takes you through heather-covered moors, along rugged mountain ridges, and past sparkling waterfalls, offering a true wilderness experience.
Beautiful hike with a lake at the top Some steep and muddy parts No navigation help but it is fairly easy with a map Dog friendly, be careful at the top because the ledge, but my dogs were fine running around going up and down (off the road).
Stunning natural beauty. Absolutely amazing. Highly recommended. Had picnic at the top of the lake with family. Very disappointing to find leftover food stuff, empty bottles, plastic material and some other rubbish up there. We tried bit of cleaning and dumped that stuff into car. It would be great if some bins are up there so this natural beauty is preserved. Humble request to all visitors- enjoy this picturesque area and do clean if you eat and drink.
One of the tallest mountain in northern part of ni Love the view and breeze
Nice walk up today with my wife. Curiously, though some parts of the trail are easy to make out, some are not. This walk is worth it for the views down onto Lough Foyle and across to Inishowen. The best part is the way up. Bit monotonous if you walk down the gravel road. There seems to be a route down through the forest, off to the left, part way down. However, a friend tells me that this seems to be a dead end.
Rewarding walk with outstanding views! Well worth it, easy parking and lots to discover!
Short, fairly steep walk. Upwards track clear and easy to follow. Downwards track (circular route) less easy underfoot. Little lake is pretty. There is a car park there and indeed two cars drove past us, however rough road to drive on. Views from top bit are amazing. Takes just over an hour to do. No facilities anywhere.
