A tranquil nature reserve featuring heathland, woodland, and wetland habitats, home to a variety of wildlife including birds, butterflies, and insects, with scenic walking trails and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Been coming here over the years. A little oasis in the middle of a housing estate. You can see the bubbling sand and sit on a bench to chill out. There's a little bridge that heads over into a field. Different types of birds come here too so if you're lucky you might spot some. It's a cool little find!
A wetland SSSI on the outskirts of Bishops Waltham with unmade paths for public access, includes the curious sandboils where upwelling springs from the underlying chalk appear to make a layer of sand boil in places. The springs feed a larger millpond which used to drive the wheels of Chase Mill over the road.
This place features in the William Atkins celebrated first book 'The Moor : A journey into the English wilderness'
The sand springs are definitely something to see.
